MBBS, BDS, BAMS or nursing? Find your route after NEET.

Which courses use NEET, who runs counselling, how long each course lasts and who regulates it.

Facts from the official regulations, checked on 22 October 2026. Dates, fees, seats and closing ranks change every year, so check the official sites below.

What to know first

  • NEET (UG) is the entrance for MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BSMS, BUMS and BHMS.
  • Counselling decides your seat. MCC counsels the 15% all-India quota and central institutions (AIIMS, JIPMER, central and deemed universities) for MBBS and BDS; AACCC counsels the all-India quota for BAMS, BSMS, BUMS and BHMS; your state counsels state-quota seats.
  • Two licensing exams exist in law but are not in force: NExT for doctors and the National Exit Test (Dental). Until they start, registration follows the current route after the internship.
  • The National Dental Commission replaced the Dental Council of India on 19 March 2026.
