Prelims Preparation 2 étapes
  1. Master the Basics with NCERTs

Build a rock-solid foundation across core general studies subjects.

Tâche concrète: Create a timeline of the Indian National Movement (1857-1947) highlighting key pacts, sessions, and leaders mentioned in NCERTs.

Pourquoi c’est important: NCERTs form the base material from which state commissions frame direct, factual Prelims questions.

    Liste de contrôle

    • Read basic NCERTs (Class 6-12) for History, Geography, Polity, and Macroeconomics.
    • Highlight and extract factual data crucial for objective exams.
    • Understand fundamental concepts behind Indian governance.
    • Correlate textbook knowledge with current events.

  2. Conquer State-Specific GK & Current Affairs

Dominate the state-specific sections which often make or break Prelims results.

Tâche concrète: Memorize the state's latest demographic census data, district-wise sex ratios, and top geographical features for instant recall.

Pourquoi c’est important: State PSCs can dedicate up to 25% of the paper exclusively to local knowledge to prioritize home-state candidates.

    Liste de contrôle

    • Procure a comprehensive state GK book (e.g., UP Special, Bihar Samagra).
    • Memorize local history, geography, census data, and current schemes.
    • Solve the last 10 years of Prelims questions of your target State PSC.
    • Practice CSAT (Aptitude) to easily clear qualifying marks.
    Ouvrir cette étape ↑
Mains (Subjective) Preparation 2 étapes
  1. Master Answer Writing & Mains Syllabus

Transition from objective guesswork to structured, analytical, and time-bound answer writing.

Tâche concrète: Write three 200-word answers on recent state government initiatives to tackle unemployment, within a 20-minute limit.

Pourquoi c’est important: Mains rank entirely determines whether you get a top-tier post (SDM/DSP) or are relegated to lower allied services.

    Liste de contrôle

    • Create concise, point-wise notes for all GS papers explicitly matching the syllabus.
    • Practice daily answer writing, structuring answers into Intro-Body-Conclusion.
    • Prepare thoroughly for the compulsory language and essay papers.
    • Use state-specific examples and data in general GS answers to score bonus points.
    Ouvrir cette étape ↑
  2. Optional Subject Mastery (If Applicable)

If your target state still retains an optional subject, finish it comprehensively.

Tâche concrète: Write a 15-page master summary covering the most repeatedly asked questions in your optional subject over the last decade.

Pourquoi c’est important: The optional subject often has enormous weightage and is the primary differentiator in Mains total scores.

    Liste de contrôle

    • Select an optional subject balancing scoring trends, graduation background, and syllabus size.
    • Complete the entire optional syllabus before Prelims even begins.
    • Prepare short notes of prominent thinkers, theorems, or historical periods.
    • Solve past 10 years Mains questions of the chosen optional.
    Ouvrir cette étape ↑
Interview (Personality Test) 1 étapes
  1. Nail the Personality Test (Interview)

Demonstrate the communication skills, ethics, and temperament required of an elite state bureaucrat.

Tâche concrète: Record yourself on video answering why you want to join the civil services, and critique your own posture, eye contact, and tone.

Pourquoi c’est important: The board assesses your suitability for public office under stress; arrogance or ignorance can ruin excellent Mains scores.

    Liste de contrôle

    • Analyze your Detailed Application Form (DAF) for trigger points.
    • Form balanced options on controversial state or national issues.
    • Take mock interviews with retired bureaucrats/coaching institutes.
    • Project a calm, humble, yet confident leadership demeanor.
    Ouvrir cette étape ↑
Training & Probation 1 étapes
  1. State Administrative Training (Probation)

Transform into an independent administrator capable of managing a subdivision or department.

Tâche concrète: Review a local land revenue dispute case file during your field training to practically understand the power of an SDM.

Pourquoi c’est important: Training equips you with the legal and administrative tools to utilize the tremendous authority entrusted to you by the state.

    Liste de contrôle

    • Join the State Administrative Training Institute (ATI) for foundational training.
    • Learn state revenue codes, CRPC basics, and treasury manuals.
    • Complete varied field attachments (tehsil, police station, zila parishad).
