Complete Prerequisite Education (CPA PREP or University Degree)
Ensure completion of all 14 non-core and core prerequisite subjects including Intermediate/Advanced Financial Accounting, Taxation, Audit, and Corporate Finance.
Tâche concrète: Submit your university transcript for formal CPA evaluation and create a timeline for enrolling in Core 1.
Pourquoi c’est important: Missing even one prerequisite course prevents admission into the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP).

Tâche concrète: Write a response to a simulated client case evaluating revenue recognition for software licenses under IFRS 15 vs ASPE 3400.
Pourquoi c’est important: Core 1 and Core 2 establish the fundamental technical competency framework and case-writing methodology required for the CFE.
Liste de contrôle

- Calculate contribution margins, transfer pricing, and variance analysis in Core 2
- Submit weekly case submissions and integrated problems (IPs)

Elective Modules & 30-Month PERT Experience 2 étapes
Conquer Two Elective Modules (Assurance, Tax, Finance, or PM)
Choose two specialized 8-week elective modules aligned with your chosen CFE Role depth (typically Assurance and Tax for public practice).
Tâche concrète: Calculate the tax implications of an owner-manager section 85 asset rollover from a sole proprietorship into a Canadian Controlled Private Corporation (CCPC).
Pourquoi c’est important: Elective depth choices determine your eligibility for public accounting licensing and your Day 2 CFE exam focus.
Liste de contrôle

- For Tax: master corporate tax (Section 85 rollovers, CDA, RDTOH) and personal tax optimization
- Submit weekly practice cases and achieve passing scores on both module exams
- Confirm elective selection aligns with CFE Day 2 Role depth
Log 30 Months of Qualifying Experience in PERT
Accumulate 30 months of full-time progressive accounting experience in either Pre-approved Program Route (PPR) or Experience Verification Route (EVR).
Tâche concrète: Draft a detailed PERT report demonstrating Level 2 complexity in analyzing internal control deficiencies for an enterprise audit client.
Pourquoi c’est important: Passing exams is only half the journey; PERT certification is mandatory to ensure real-world competency before receiving the designation.
Liste de contrôle

- Achieve required Level 1 and Level 2 technical and enabling competencies
- Conduct semi-annual CPA mentor meetings documenting ethical reasoning and leadership growth
- Obtain final provincial review approval on 30 months of experience

Collaborate in a team to write and present a strategic business acquisition proposal in Capstone 1, followed by 8 weeks of intensive full-day CFE case writing in Capstone 2.
Tâche concrète: Complete a 5-hour mock CFE Day 2 role simulation, producing fully addressed assessment opportunities across core reporting and elective depth.
